This gallery and studio museum provides a unique space where students can gain a personal insight into Australian lyrical expressionist painter, Brett Whiteley. Exhibitions change regularly and displays of the artist's sketchbooks, materials, personal memorabilia and music reveal his inspirations and illustrate his art practice.
 

Years K-6

Discussion Tours

  • Discussion tours also involve some practical art making (drawing).

Workshop Tours

  • Follow the Curve
    Children are encouraged to experiment with a variety of drawing techniques, media and applications.
    Tailor-made workshops available by negotiation with Studio staff.
  • Studio Zoo
    Taronga Park Zoo comes to Surry Hills. Within the inspirational environment of Whiteley's Studio, students have the opportunity to seek out their favourite creature to draw.

7-12 Workshop Tours

    Explore the evolution of an idea in this mixed-media-based workshop.
  • Ink without Think
    A workshop designed to experience and experiment with the Japanese painting with brush and ink.
  • Life Drawing
    Draw from a model (nude or part clothed) .
  • Studio Zoo
    Taronga Zoo comes to the Surry Hills Studio.
