Archibald Wynne & Sulman Prizes 2003
The Archibald Prize for portrait painting is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious art awards. The Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery in oils or watercolours or for the best example of figure sculpture, by an Australian artist. The Sir John Sulman Prize is awarded for the best subject painting or genre painting or mural project by an Australian artist.

Charles Conder
A major retrospective exhibition of the Australian painter Charles Conder (1868-1909), who shared 'golden summers' with Tom Roberts and Arthur Streeton, was sketched by Toulouse-Lautrec in the Moulin Rouge, and was befriended by Oscar Wilde and Charles Sickert in London.

Dobell Prize for Drawing 2003
The most important drawing prize in Australia. It was established in 1993 as an initiative of the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation to encourage excellence in drawing and draughtsmanship. Supplementing the annual competition exhibition will be an exhibition commemorating the first ten years of the Prize.

Igor and Svetlana Kopystiansky
A video work filmed on the streets of Chelsea in New York where the artists have a studio. Taken over several years, this video documents rubbish being blown about the streets on windy days. This simple and even banal subject matter is transformed through the close observation that the camera allows.

A video installation recounting the events leading to a terrorist attack at Oxford University. The title (meaning "in a barely audible voice, a whisper") alludes to the whispered and haunting nature of the voice-over.
