Óscar Muñoz: Biografías

Colombian artist Óscar Muñoz is something of a gentle magician. His ‘disappearing drawings’ are poignant and beautiful, combining consummate skill with conceptual subtlety and rigour. The five-channel video installation Biografías is one of a series of works in which portraits slowly vanish, reflecting the disappearance of people on a regular basis in Colombia. In these videos, portraits made of coal dust float on water surfaces before distorting and draining away.
